EVENT DESCRIPTION: The Pacific Northwest Historics features many of the world’s rarest and most beautiful pre-1970 race cars. This year, more than 250 vintage race cars are expected to enter. Favorites include Ferraris, Lotuses, Cobras, Corvettes, Porsches, Austin Healeys and some less recognizable names like Elva, Ginetta, and McLaren. Most are in mint condition through extensive restoration and many attain speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour. Some of the cars are valued at over $1 million and many have impressive racing histories. Competitors come from all over the West Coast and Canada. The wheel to wheel competition on the challenging 2 ¼-mile road course includes nine turns, 200-300 foot elevation drop and a near ¾-mile straightaway.
The paddock area and in-field are open to all spectators.
FEATURED DISPLAY: The year 2010 brings about a monumental occasion in automotive history, the 100th anniversary of the Alfa Romeo manufacturing company. These are the pure race cars that won most race events from 1910 – 1977 such as Targa Florio, Mille Miglia, Le Mans and Grand Prix races. Alfa Romeo attracted many of the great drivers – Tazio Nuvolari, Enzo Ferrari, Juan Fangio - and was able to accredit their wins towards the championships. With such great cars as the P2 and P3 grand prix racers, the 2900 series, the Giulietta, the Alfetta, the GTA, the type 33, and the new 8C, it is sure to be a racing spectacle for the entire family to enjoy. SOVREN requires that the cars be prepared perfectly to original specifications, so the racing will be close, fast, and spirited. Alfa Romeo has always been a racing enthusiast’s car and this year they will always put on a fantastic show. We welcome spectators to inspect the cars and visit with the owners and drivers. We encourage you to get close to the cars and take pictures. The kids really enjoy it.
Fifty years of racing at Pacific Raceways. A display of pictures from the early years and a schematic of the raceways plans for the future will be on display as we celebrate the track’s 50th anniversary.
CAR CORRAL: An additional 250 vintage and collector cars from local car clubs will be on display in the car corral.
